Special area wide Byzantine Catholic events during the Great Fast:
1. During the Lenten services (7:00pm), on the first four Wednesdays of Lent, Fr. Thomas J. Loya of the Tabor Life Institute, will offer brief presentations commemorating the 50th anniversary of Blessed Pope Paul VI’s document, “Humanae Vitae” (On Human Life). This document articulates the Church’s teaching in favor of natural family planning and against artificial birth control. These presentations will explain the history, controversy, wisdom, and prophetic, compassionate character of the Church’s teachings on the human person as articulated in “Humanae Vitae.”
2. On Thursday March 15 at 7:00pm at Annunciation church, as part of the Knowledge and Prayer series, Fr. Thomas J. Loya will do a presentation: “Transgenderism—a compassionate response.”
3. Lenten Vespers on Sunday afternoon will be hosted in rotation by each Byzantine Catholic parish in the Indiana and Illinois region. (See schedule below).

5. During the Friday Presanctified Liturgies (7:00pm) at St. Mary’s parish in Whiting Indiana, Fr. Andrew Summerson will conduct brief reflections on the Book of Genesis. Confession available after the Liturgy. For more information go to stmarywhiting.org
